Author/illustrator Dee Carstarphen spent 30 years aboard sailboats:

  • a 76' Brixham Trawler (featured in Maverick Sea Fare);
  • the 120' Gloucester Schooner ADVENTURE (the subject of Windjammer Cooking); and
  • the 30 foot ketch SEA WIND, in which she researched The Conch Book and Narrow Waters.

    Dee lives with her husband in Virginia, and sails a 22' catboat on the Chesapeake Bay.
